A method statement approved at tender is not the same as a method statement approved for the work starting on Sunday. Scope changes, the sequence changes, the risk assessment moves — and the register still shows a green tick. The question is not “do we have a method statement?” It is “is the right one approved and in force for this specific activity, now?”

Why “approved once” isn’t approved

A method statement and its risk assessment travel together as RAMS: the risk assessment identifies the hazards, and the method statement sets out, step by step, how the job is done and how each hazard is controlled. On a live UAE project both change as the work changes. An approval captured months ago at tender tells you little about whether the current method for the current sequence is signed off.
