A permit to work with a number on it is not the same as high-risk work that is safe to begin. A permit was raised. A method statement was issued at tender. The register looks complete. And yet the controls described on paper are not always the controls in place at the workface. That gap is where incidents and stop-notices live.

What a permit register doesn’t close

Every HSE team already keeps permits to work on file. Storing them answers “do we have the permit?” It does not answer the question that matters the morning high-risk work begins: is this specific permit approved, current, and consistent with the method statement, risk assessment and drawings for this activity — today? What Aven-AI does with your permits to work

Aven-AI reads your permit-to-work register alongside the project programme. It classifies the high-risk work coming up — work at height, excavation, lifting, confined space, hot works — and checks whether the permit and its supporting controls are approved and on file before the activity starts. Fourteen days before a package begins, it can tell you the permit is unissued or the linked method statement is unapproved. Not on the day. Not in the incident report. What it does not do — on purpose

Aven-AI does not issue permits, approve them, or sign anything. It will not authorise or stop work. It tells you the evidence is incomplete and cites exactly which record is missing or contradictory; the decision stays with the competent people who hold it. This is deliberate: an advisory layer that never actions is one you can trust to sit across your whole permit process without taking authority away from your HSE manager, engineer or approving authority.
